Being pain-free doesn’t necessarily mean you’re ready.
One of the biggest things I try to get across during rehab is that removing pain is only one part of the process.
If someone comes into the clinic with an injury, I don’t want the end goal to simply be:
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
I want to gradually rebuild what their body needs to tolerate AND MORE!!!
Restore movement → build control → develop strength → integrate it into movement → return to better performance.
And each stage should have a reason for progressing.
Can you access the range?
Can you control it?
Can you tolerate load?
Can you produce and absorb force?
Can you repeat it under fatigue?
Can you meet the demands of your sport or training?
Because time is a useful guide — but it shouldn’t be the only thing deciding your rehab progression.
Whether I’m working with someone trying to get back to everyday training or a professional athlete returning to competition, the principle is the same:
Don’t just get them pain-free. Prepare them for what comes next.

People often ask me what keeps me motivated after nearly 20 years in this industry.
The answer has changed over the years.
When I first started, I was driven by learning as much as I possibly could. Every course, every mentor and every opportunity to improve was something I wanted to be part of.
As the years have gone on, I’ve realised it isn’t just the knowledge that keeps me going.
It’s the people.
The conversations in the clinic.
The athletes chasing performance.
The clients who simply want to get out of pain.
The coaches I’ve met.
The friends I’ve made.
The opportunities to teach, mentor and continue learning myself.
I’ve also been incredibly fortunate to work alongside some of the very best in sport. From professional boxers and Formula racing drivers to elite performers across a range of sports, those experiences have pushed me to continually raise my own standards. Not because they’re elite, but because working in those environments reinforces just how important the fundamentals are. Assess well, coach well, communicate well and never stop learning.
I’ve also realised that no two days are ever the same.
One day I’m helping someone prepare for elite competition.
The next I’m getting a parent back to lifting their child without pain.
The day after, I’m teaching coaches or mentoring therapists.
That’s what I love most.
Every person has a different goal, but they all trust me to help them move better, perform better and enjoy life more.
Looking back through these photos reminds me how fortunate I’ve been—not because of the places I’ve travelled or the athletes I’ve worked with, but because of the people I’ve met along the way and the relationships this profession has given me.
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s this:
Find something that challenges you, excites you and makes you want to keep learning.

Pain going away doesn’t mean the injury has gone.
One of the biggest reasons injuries return is because people stop rehabilitation as soon as they feel better.
Pain is only one measure of recovery.
I want my clients to be able to:
✔️ Produce force
✔️ Absorb force
✔️ Rotate well
✔️ Move confidently
✔️ Return to the demands of their sport or daily life
That’s why every rehabilitation journey at LMM progresses from:
➡️ Treatment
➡️ Movement correction
➡️ Strength
➡️ Performance
Our goal isn’t just to get you out of pain.
It’s to stop you needing us for the same injury again.
Assess. Treat. Strengthen. Perform.

Hip flexors always feel tight? Here’s why stretching isn’t enough…
One of the most common complaints I hear is:
“My hip flexors are always tight.”
In reality, they often aren’t just tight—they’re weak, overloaded or lacking control.
If you only stretch them, you might get temporary relief, but unless you improve their strength and capacity, the tightness usually comes back.
These are three of my go-to progressions:
1️⃣ Mountain Climber Hip Flexion Isometric
Builds tolerance and teaches the hip flexors to stabilise the pelvis.
2️⃣ Hip Flexor Plank with Shoulder Taps
Challenges hip flexor endurance while integrating core stability and anti-rotation control.
3️⃣ Eccentric Single-Leg Hip Flexor Sit-Up
Develops strength through the lengthening phase, helping the hip flexors absorb force and cope with higher-demand activities like running, kicking and sprinting.
These exercises aren’t suitable for everyone and should always be prescribed based on your assessment and stage of rehabilitation.
Combined with the right mobility work, they’re a far more effective long-term solution than stretching alone.
Don’t just create movement… own it.
Assess. Treat. Strengthen. Perform.
